Turntable Oil Reviews

“Now, Linn has long been known for the quality, quietness, and long-term reliability of their platter bearing and have concocted their own bespoke bearing oil. So I was unprepared for the improvement the Origin Live oil produced……
The Linn, which before had seemed back on its heels and lethargic, suddenly sprang to life and got up on its toes, rejuvenated. I was so impressed that I changed to the new oil on my other, even older, LP12. Same result. Then it was on to the Merrill/AR XA, and finally my 4 Origin Live tables. The results were the same: more smoothness, better speed stability, more effortless depiction of transients (both leading and decay) and an increased liveliness and rhythmic brio.

……In short, I cannot give anything but the highest recommendation for these 2 Origin Live products. Inexpensive enough to be considered part of a normal ‘tune-up,’ regimen” – Read the full review

…be prepared for better musical timing, more detail, and overall a big increase in musical enjoyment. Probably the most significant single upgrade to my system to date. Don’t believe me? Doesn’t cost much to prove a point!

“Who would have thought changing my spindle oil would keep me awake all night?
Thanks!”
Craig, Owner Comment

There are many turntable oils on the market that do little or nothing to enhance performance. It is estimated that you could easily spend an extra £200 to £500 on a cartridge and not get the level of improvement possible by changing to Origin Live record player Oil.

This oil cannot be used on Rega, Technics, Michell Engineering, Pink Triangle or decks with inverted bearings.

The Most Important Component In Your Bearing

The theory is that your bearing needs to be vibration-free and frictionless – in reality, bearings suffer from a multitude of low level vibration modes and non audible noise which is clearly measurable. When you recognise this noise and movement is amplified thousands of times by your cartridge and amplifier, these factors suddenly become absolutely critical to obtain greater performance.

What is not generally realised is that the type of oil used in the bearing can be the most influential component of the entire assembly. It is reasonable to assume that a turntable manufacturer has carefully researched the oil to use in his particular design and to depart from this is risky. The truth is that there are thousands of oils and additives on the market which means the research necessary is well beyond the time constraints of most manufacturers. As a result, their turntable oils are nothing special and neither do they receive much attention–they serve to protect the bearing and lower friction, but the massive scope for performance improvement persists unrealised.

Turntable Bearing Oil Influences Sound Quality

Origin Live Turntable Oil will simply improve every aspect of your music. Treble in particular undergoes a complete transformation in purity, voices increase in realism and presence. Other improvements include increased transparency and detail with less masking. Transient speed is increased most noticeably in the bass which does not lag behind as it does with other oils. These are improvements you would expect from a bearing which rotates much more smoothly with less friction.

The Fundamentals of a Perfect Turntable Oil

Your bearing needs an oil perfectly suited for the particular conditions that exist in a turntable bearing. Above all it must have an extremely strong protective film strength along with ultra-low friction. The results of such an oil are spectacular in terms of sound quality.

Proven performance

We claim an improvement over all known turntable brand oils or your money back. This oil is proven to reduce friction, bearing noise and vibration significantly. So much so, that a while ago Hi-Fi News magazine found one of our bearings to produce the lowest noise level they have ever measured on any turntable bearing.

Compatible With All Turntables

Owners of all types of deck have reported great results from using Origin Live Turntable Oil. Examples include the Linn LP12–with their tightly toleranced PTFE liners and metal-to-metal bearings.

What About Additives?

Various claims are made about graphite, molybdenum and PTFE, and it is easy to be misled by theoretical ideas which are just that–great in theory. We have exhaustively tested countless mixes and combinations to discover that these additives do not provide the answers to the ultimate turntable oil. The wrong additives in a turntable bearing are counter-productive although they may slightly improve what is a non-optimal oil in the first place.

A Great Investment

The performance increase delivered by this highly specialist oil means that it is easily worth £100 per bottle in terms of sound quality improvement. We invite you to put this to the test at a mere £12 with our money-back guarantee and you can start enjoying new levels of performance.

Origin Live Turntable bearing oil suits all decks with fully oil immersed bearings such as: Ariston, Basis, Clearaudio, Kuzma, Linn LP12, Manticore, Oracle, Project, Rock, Systemdeck, Thorens, Voyd, VPI and Well Tempered.
